Gluten-Free Fresh Tomato Pasta Sauce Recipe:

Ingredients For Tomato Pasta Sauce Recipe:

  • Tomatoes: 1 kg
  • Onions: 1. Chopped
  • Basil Leaves: 4-5
  • Garlic cloves: 4-5. Crushed
  • Olive oil: 2 tbsp
  • Butter: 1 tbsp (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar: 1 tbsp
  • Red chili flakes: 1 tsp
  • Pepper: 1 tbsp

Method:

  1. Take the fresh tomatoes, drop them into a pan of boiling water and leave for about a minute, until the skins split. Lift out and peel, then roughly chop.
  2. Heat oil in a large, heavy-based saucepan over medium heat. Add onion. Cook, stirring, for 5 to 6 minutes or until the onion has softened and has turned golden. Add garlic.
  3. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until fragrant. Tip in the tomatoes, and break up with a wooden spoon if necessary, then add the sugar, salt, pepper, chili flakes, butter a cup of water. Simmer for about 25 minutes, or until it is thickened to your liking.
  4. Stir from time to time, mashing up any large pieces of tomato with the back of a wooden spoon.
  5. Test the seasoning, add the basil leaves, roughly torn, and drizzle in a little extra-virgin olive oil if you like before serving.
